The tea that reinvents tradition

We all remember that scent that fills the home during the holidays. The smell of cakes baking, of vanilla lingering in the air, of cinnamon crackling. Those fragrances that make it feel like Christmas—long before gifts and garlands.

It’s this sensory memory we wanted to capture with our Christmas Vanilla Tea. But not just any way. We wanted real Bourbon vanilla, not a chemical flavoring. Strong, authentic Assam black tea, not an insipid powder. Genuine spices that tell a story.

We spent months perfecting this blend. Too much cocoa and it turns heavy. Not enough vanilla and the magic disappears. Every sip had to evoke both the comfort of a grandma’s dessert and the elegance of a tea with character.

The result is a tea you can enjoy in the morning to start the day with energy—or in the evening in a creamy latte to extend the sweetness of the holidays. A tea that accompanies your moments of reading by the fire, your gift mornings under the tree, and your baking afternoons with the kids.

This tea is our way of saying that Christmas isn’t just a day on the calendar. It’s a mindset, an atmosphere, a delicious little treat you can give yourself anytime you feel like it.

Indulgent, comforting, authentic. Black tea that turns every cup into a celebration.

Learn more about Black Tea

Feuilles de thé - icône

What is black tea, and how is it different from other teas?

Black tea is a fully oxidized tea, which gives it its distinctive dark color and intense aromas. Unlike green tea or white tea, the leaves of black tea undergo natural fermentation after harvest, before being dried. This transformation brings out woody, spiced, and sometimes malty notes, depending on the terroir and the variety.

At Pure Tea, our selection of black teas is free from additives, and chosen for its aromatic richness and finesse. A must-have for lovers of bold, comforting flavors.

What are the health benefits of black tea?

Black tea is rich in antioxidants, especially flavonoids (theaflavins and thearubigins), which help combat oxidative stress. It also contains a moderate amount of caffeine, making it a great ally for enhancing concentration and alertness without the abrupt effects of coffee.

Some studies also suggest a role in cholesterol regulation and supporting cardiovascular metabolism. Enjoying a quality black tea, like the one offered by Pure Tea, is a perfect blend of taste pleasure and everyday well-being, naturally.

Where does our Assam black tea come from, and what makes it so special?

Our Assam black tea is grown in the Assam region, in the north-east of India, renowned for its strong, full-bodied black teas. The tropical climate, fertile soils, and the Himalayan mists create ideal conditions for producing a tea with intense, malty notes and a subtle spicy touch.

Does black tea contain theine (caffeine), and how should you dose it?

Yes, black tea naturally contains theine, which is actually the same molecule as caffeine. One cup of black tea contains an average of 40 to 60 mg of caffeine, depending on the variety, the amount used, and the steeping time.

Good news: unlike coffee, the caffeine in tea is released more slowly, thanks to the presence of tannins. This means a gentler, longer-lasting effect, without a spike or energy crash.

For a lighter version, you can start with a short first infusion (30 seconds), discard it, then steep the same leaves again.

How can you tell a high-quality black tea?

You can spot a quality black tea by several key signs:

  • Whole or rolled leaves, with no dust
  • A rich aroma, with no musty or damp notes
  • A bright, lustrous infusion, amber with a deep dark-red color once steeped
  • A balanced taste, with no excessive bitterness or metallic aftertaste

At Pure Tea, we work directly with passionate partners and refuse industrial blends. The result: a premium black tea, pure, and truly delicious.

Is black tea suitable for children and pregnant women?

Black tea naturally contains caffeine (on average 40 to 60 mg per cup), so it is not recommended for children under 12.

For pregnant women, moderate consumption is possible, as long as you don’t exceed 200 mg of caffeine per day, from all sources combined (tea, coffee, chocolate…). So one to two cups of black tea can fit into a balanced lifestyle during pregnancy, provided you discuss it with a healthcare professional.

At Pure Tea, all our teas are free from pesticide residues and no additives, making them a safer choice for occasional consumption in this context.

How to store my black tea properly to preserve its aromas?

Black tea is sensitive to moisture, light, and strong odours. To keep it fresh for as long as possible, we recommend storing it in an airtight container, away from direct light and temperature fluctuations.

Avoid keeping it in the fridge or near strongly scented spices.

All our Pure Tea teas are packed in eco-designed, opaque, resealable sachets, specially created to preserve freshness and the intensity of the aromas until your very last cup.
