Learn more about Black Tea
What is black tea, and how is it different from other teas?
What is black tea, and how is it different from other teas?
Black tea is fully oxidized tea, which gives it its distinctive dark color and intense aromas. Unlike green tea or white tea, the black tea leaves undergo natural fermentation after harvest, before being dried. This transformation brings out woody, spicy, and sometimes malty notes, depending on the terroir and the variety.
At Pure Tea, our selection of black teas is free from additives, chosen for its aromatic richness and refined character. A must-have for lovers of bold, comforting flavors.
What are the health benefits of black tea?
What are the health benefits of black tea?
Black tea is rich in antioxidants, particularly flavonoids (theaflavins and thearubigins), which help combat oxidative stress. It also contains a moderate dose of caffeine, making it a great ally for supporting concentration and alertness without the sudden effects of coffee.
Some studies also suggest a role in cholesterol regulation and support for cardiovascular metabolism. Enjoying quality black tea, like the one from Pure Tea, is a way to combine great taste and everyday well-being, naturally.
Where does our Assam black tea come from, and why is it so special?
Where does our Assam black tea come from, and why is it so special?
Our Assam black tea is grown in the Assam region in north-eastern India, famous for its bold, full-bodied black teas. The tropical climate, fertile soils, and Himalayan mists create ideal conditions for a tea with intense, malty notes and a hint of spice.
At Pure Tea, we select only plantations where the work is done by hand, in respect of traditions and the environment. This Assam black tea is the perfect base for our energizing recipes, such as our Assam black Maté Lemon Ginger tea.
Does black tea contain theine (caffeine), and how should you measure it?
Does black tea contain theine (caffeine), and how should you measure it?
Yes, black tea naturally contains theine, which is actually the same molecule as caffeine. One cup of black tea contains an average of 40 to 60 mg of caffeine, depending on the variety, the amount infused, and the steeping time.
Good news: unlike coffee, tea’s caffeine is released more slowly, thanks to the presence of tannins. This means a smoother, longer-lasting effect, with no sudden peak or energy crash.
For a lighter version, you can start with a shorter first steep (30 seconds), discard it, then steep the same leaves again.
How to recognize a high-quality black tea?
How to recognize a high-quality black tea?
A quality black tea can be recognized by several key elements:
- Whole or rolled leaves, with no dust
- A rich aroma, with no musty or damp notes
- A bright, glossy liquor, amber-red to deep red once infused
- A taste, with no excessive bitterness or metallic aftertaste
At Pure Tea, we work directly with passionate producers, select teas freshly harvested, and refuse industrial blends. The result: a premium black tea, pure, and truly delicious.
Does black tea suit children and pregnant women?
Does black tea suit children and pregnant women?
Black tea naturally contains caffeine (on average 40 to 60 mg per cup), so it is not recommended for children under 12.
For pregnant women, moderate consumption is possible, provided that you do not exceed 200 mg of caffeine per day, from all sources combined (tea, coffee, chocolate…). One to two cups of black tea can therefore fit into a balanced lifestyle during pregnancy, as long as you discuss it with a healthcare professional.
At Pure Tea, all our teas are free from pesticide residues and without additives, making them a safer choice for occasional consumption in this context.
How to store my black tea properly to preserve its aromas?
How to store my black tea properly to preserve its aromas?
Black tea is sensitive to humidity, light, and strong odors. To keep it fresh for as long as possible, we recommend storing it in an airtight container, away from direct light and temperature fluctuations.
Avoid keeping it in the refrigerator or near strongly scented spices.
All our Pure Tea teas are packaged in eco-designed, opaque, resealable bags—made to protect freshness and the intensity of the aromas right up to the very last cup.
