Exotic Rooibos – Your Ticket to the Tropics

Alright, let’s be honest. A Maldives getaway? Not just yet. The round-the-world trip—we’ll see later. But what about an everyday escape?

Our Exoctic Rooibos is our little travel trick. One cup, and—hop—you’re transported. The mango aroma wafting up, the colors dancing in hot water, that taste of tropical paradise... For the price of a coffee, you’re booking a one-way ticket to the islands.

The great thing? It’s packed with good-for-you stuff (antioxidants, vitamins, all that jazz)—but honestly, we drink it mostly because it’s absolutely delicious. This burst of exotic fruits, this natural sweetness, those little floating flowers... It’s Instagram in a cup—only better, because it’s actually meant to be sipped.

It’s become our daily ray of sunshine. This exotic pause that reminds us that even stuck at the office, you can still escape. Even in the rain, you can feel warm. Even in February, it’s summer somewhere.

Exotic, sunny, downright addictive.

Learn more about Black Tea

Feuilles de thé - icône

What is black tea, and how is it different from other teas?

Black tea is a fully oxidized tea, giving it its distinctive dark color and intense aromas. Unlike green tea or white tea, black tea leaves undergo natural fermentation after harvest before being dried. This transformation brings out woody, spicy, and sometimes malty notes, depending on the terroir and the variety.

At Pure Tea, our selection of black teas is 100% natural, without additives, and chosen for its aromatic richness and refined character. A must-have for lovers of bold, comforting flavors.

What are the health benefits of black tea?

Black tea is rich in antioxidants, particularly flavonoids (theaflavins and thearubigins), which help combat oxidative stress. It also contains a moderate amount of caffeine, making it a great ally for improving concentration and alertness—without the sudden effects of coffee.

Some studies also suggest a role in cholesterol regulation and supporting cardiovascular metabolism. Enjoying a quality black tea, like the one offered by Pure Tea, is the perfect blend of taste pleasure and everyday well-being, naturally.

Where does our Assam black tea come from, and why is it so special?

Our Assam black tea is grown in the Assam region, in the north-east of India, famous for its bold, full-bodied black teas. The tropical climate, fertile soils and the Himalayan mists create the perfect conditions for a tea with intensely malty notes, gently spiced.

This Assam black tea is the ideal base for our energising recipes, like our Black Tea Mate Lemon Ginger.

Does black tea contain theine (caffeine), and how should you dose it?

Yes, black tea naturally contains theine, which is actually the same molecule as caffeine. On average, one cup of black tea contains 40 to 60 mg of caffeine, depending on the variety, the amount brewed, and the steeping time.

Good news: unlike coffee, the caffeine in tea is released more slowly, thanks to the presence of tannins. This means a gentler, longer-lasting effect, with no sudden spike or energy crash.

For a lighter version, you can do a first short steep (30 seconds), discard it, then steep the same leaves again.

Feuilles de thé

How can you tell if a black tea is high quality?

A quality black tea can be recognized by several key signs:

  • Whole or rolled leaves, with no dust
  • a rich aroma, with no musty or damp notes
  • a bright liquor, amber with a deep reddish tone once brewed
  • a taste, with no excessive bitterness or metallic aftertaste

At Pure Tea, we work directly with passionate producers, select teas freshly harvested, and refuse industrial blends. The result: a high-end black tea, natural, pure, and truly delicious.

Is black tea suitable for children and pregnant women?

Black tea naturally contains caffeine (on average 40 to 60 mg per cup), so it is not recommended for children under 12.

For pregnant women, moderate consumption is possible, as long as you do not exceed 200 mg of caffeine per day, from all sources combined (tea, coffee, chocolate…). One to two cups of black tea can therefore fit into a balanced lifestyle during pregnancy, provided you discuss it with a healthcare professional.

How to store my black tea properly to preserve its aromas?

Black tea is sensitive to humidity, light and strong odors. To keep it fresh for as long as possible, we recommend storing it in an airtight container, away from direct light and temperature fluctuations.

Avoid keeping it in the fridge or near strongly scented spices.

All our Pure Tea teas are packed in eco-designed, opaque, resealable pouches, specially created to protect freshness and aroma intensity all the way to the very last cup.
