Collection: Green Tea

Organic Green Tea: A Story of Freshness and Vitality

It all begins at dawn, in the steep Asian gardens where green tea leaves are still beaded with dew. Hand-picked with care, they are then dried using traditional methods that preserve their natural antioxidants and delicate bitterness.

But what you’re holding in your hands isn’t just tea. It’s a concentrate of freshness and vitality, designed to accompany your days with gentleness and lightness.

At Pure Tea, we believe in more mindful consumption. That’s why all our green teas are 100% organic, with no compromises. No artificial flavors, no pesticides. Just authentic leaves.

What is Green Tea and where does it come from?

Green Tea is a non-fermented tea made from the fresh leaves of Camellia sinensis, the tea plant. Originally from China and cultivated for over 4,000 years, it is now produced in many regions: China, Japan, Korea, India, and Sri Lanka. Unlike black tea, green tea leaves are quickly heated after picking to stop oxidation, preserving their green color and natural properties.

How is green tea produced and what are its varieties?

Green tea production follows a meticulous, age-old process. After picking, the leaves are immediately fixed with heat (steam in Japan, dry heat in China) to halt oxidation. They are then rolled and dried. This method preserves the tea’s natural antioxidants and gives green tea its signature vegetal notes. Some of the most renowned varieties include Japanese Sencha, Chinese Gunpowder, and Jasmine Dragon Pearls.

What are the main health benefits of Green Tea?

Green Tea is packed with natural benefits. Rich in catechins (especially EGCG), it has outstanding antioxidant properties that help fight cellular aging. Its moderate caffeine gives a gentle, sustained energy boost without the spikes and crashes of coffee. It also supports metabolism, promotes focus, and boosts the immune system. Its L-theanine content provides a uniquely relaxing effect.

How do I properly prepare green tea to avoid bitterness?

Preparing green tea requires delicacy and precision. Use water between 158°F and 176°F (never boiling!) and steep for no more than 2 to 3 minutes. Water that's too hot or steeping too long releases tannins and makes the tea bitter. Pure Tea Tip: pour a little cold water into your cup first, add the hot water, then the leaves. This method ensures gentle extraction and preserves the aromas.

What’s the difference between green tea and other teas?

The main difference lies in the level of oxidation. Green tea is not fermented (0% oxidation), unlike black tea (100% oxidized) or Oolong tea (partially oxidized). This lack of fermentation preserves the green color of the leaves, the natural antioxidants, and gives fresh, vegetal aromas. Green tea also contains less caffeine than black tea, while offering a more subtle and refined taste experience.

Is green tea suitable for any time of day?

Green tea is perfect in the morning and early afternoon thanks to its moderate caffeine content that stimulates without overstimulating. Avoid drinking it in the evening if you're sensitive to caffeine. Its L-theanine promotes a state of focused relaxation, perfect for work or meditation. Sensitive individuals can opt for decaffeinated green teas or limit themselves to 2–3 cups per day.

How can you recognize quality Green Tea at Pure Tea?

A Premium Green Tea stands out thanks to its whole, vibrant green leaves, with minimal breakage or dust. When brewed, it should yield a clear, golden or pale green liquor, with fresh, vegetal aromas and no bitterness. At Pure Tea, we source our green teas directly from certified gardens, favoring spring harvests (First Flush) for their exceptional delicacy. Our quality controls ensure freshness, purity, and authentic aromas.

How do I properly store green tea to preserve its properties?

Green tea is more delicate than other teas and requires special care. Store it in a cool, dry, dark place, ideally in the fridge in an airtight container. Our Pure Tea packaging with recyclable metallized film provides optimal protection against moisture, light, and odors. Properly stored green tea retains its antioxidant properties and delicate aromas for 12 to 18 months.
